The HAB Task Force responds to complaints regarding blooms. The map does not reflect all possible blooms in the state, only those reported and under investigation.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The HAB Task Force does not have the resources to provide response support to bloom reports on privately owned waterbodies, therefore those blooms will not appear on the HAB Map. If you suspect a bloom on a private waterbody, please visit the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dwr.virginia.gov\/fishing\/private-pond-management\/private-consultants\/\">Dept of Wildlife Resources list of Private Lake Management Firms\u00a0<\/a>page to find a consultant to provide HAB investigation support and utilize our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/178\/2023\/04\/Private_Waterbody_Managers_FAQs_Resources_Final.pdf\">Private Waterbody Manager\u2019s Toolkit<\/a>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Please call the Virginia Emergency Operations Center (VEOC) at 1-800-468-8892 immediately to report fish kills or other dead animals in or near the water.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The VDH HAB map and Online Report Form will return: April 2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/waterborne-hazards-control\/contact-waterborne-hazards-control-programs\/\">Contact Waterborne Hazards Control<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><!-- DELETE THIS LINE TO UNHIDE\n\n[iframe src=\"https:\/\/virginiahealth.maps.arcgis.com\/apps\/dashboards\/5336b3174db64819ad172199347cfd73\" width=\"100%\" height=\"800\"]\n<strong>How do I report an Algal Bloom or Fish Kill?<\/strong>\n\n<strong>To report an algae bloom, visit our online <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/waterborne-hazards-control\/harmful-algal-bloom-online-report-form\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HAB report form<\/a>. If you are concerned that you have been exposed to a harmful algal bloom, please contact your health care provider. Telling your provider about contact with water may help them diagnose the illness properly.
