Walk-ins offered based on availability.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Mission Statement<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Mission of the Virginia Beach Department of Public Health Clinic is to promote physical and mental health and prevent disease, injury and disability in the citizens of Virginia Beach. Prevention services are the main focus of the clinics. A multi-disciplinary public health team provides services to improve or maintain the well being of the person and the community as a whole. The Health Department provides direct services for specific diseases that threaten the health of the community and develops programs that prevent, contain, and control the transmission of infectious diseases. Health services, including preventive health services, are provided to high risk and vulnerable populations. Some services are free, some are a flat fee and others have a fee based on a sliding scale. Sliding scale means that in general, the more income you have, the larger the fee you pay for services. Financial eligibility is determined annually and whenever there is a change in financial status. You must have identification and proof of income when services are provided. If you do not have health insurance or proof of household income, please speak with our front office staff for assistance. Those who are unable to pay will <strong><u>NOT<\/u><\/strong> be turned away. The Virginia Beach Department of Public Health is committed to continuing uninterrupted services to our clients.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Some family planning is available during STI screenings, including some forms of birth control, contraceptive education and Pap smears.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\" align=\"center\"><strong>For more information, please call 757-518-2700 Opt. 1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: 14pt;\">Tuberculosis<\/span><\/strong><br \/>\nPersons who are concerned about tuberculosis may receive information and\/or consultation. Case management services are provided for patients who are referred due to suspicion or confirmation of a tuberculosis case. Medical care related to tuberculosis is available for uninsured, financially eligible persons. This includes skin testing for tuberculosis, chest X-rays, laboratory work and medication. A fee may be charged for some services depending on the ability to pay. <strong>For more information, please call 518-2700 Opt 6.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Other Communicable Diseases<\/strong><br \/>\nInformation about other communicable diseases is available by calling <strong>757-278-6290<\/strong>.
