Virginia Code 32.1-229.01 requires current certification by either the National Radon Safety Board (NRSB) or the National Radon Proficiency Program (NRPP) in order to legally conduct professional radon testing or mitigation in the Commonwealth. Certification will entail taking an approved training course, passing a proctored exam on the course contents and then applying for membership with either organization.\u00a0 Both organizations require certificate renewals every two years. Please contact NRSB or NRPP for more details:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

Radon Testing & Mitigation Guidance Documents
\n<\/strong>Although not yet referenced in the Virginia Code, both VDH and EPA recommend that radon professionals follow the testing and mitigation standards co-written by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and the American Association of Radiation Scientists and Technologists (AARST). These standards cover all types of buildings and they may be viewed (but not copied) here: https:\/\/standards.aarst.org\/.<\/a>\u00a0 These are the best available radon testing and mitigation standards and they are updated\/revised every 3 years.<\/p>\n
