Our friendly, highly-trained staff can help you make the best choices for yourself. All services are confidential, affordable, and available to anyone living in Virginia, regardless of citizenship or immigration status. We also offer confidential services to teens. Call any of our five convenient <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/new-river\/locations\/\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">locations<\/span><\/a> to make an appointment or learn more!<\/p>\n<h3>New River Health District believes that all people:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Have the right to decide for themselves about having children<\/li>\n<li>Should have access to good information and quality family planning services<\/li>\n<li>Have the right to confidential, nonjudgmental sexual and reproductive health care provided with respect to privacy, dignity, and individuality<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Service available at all local health departments include:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Pregnancy testing and counseling<\/li>\n<li>Pap tests<\/li>\n<li>Breast and pelvic exams<\/li>\n<li>Testing for HIV and other sexually transmitted infections\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Education and counseling on family planning and sexual health<\/li>\n<li>Services especially for teens<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>We offer many different birth control options* including:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Contraceptive <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bedsider.org\/methods\/implant\">implants<\/a><\/span> (Nexplanon)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bedsider.org\/methods\/iud\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">IUDs<\/span><\/a> (Mirena, Skyla, Liletta, Kyleena, &amp; ParaGard)<\/li>\n<li>Birth control <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bedsider.org\/methods\/the_shot\">shots<\/a><\/span> (Depo-Provera)<\/li>\n<li>Birth control <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bedsider.org\/methods\/the_pill\">pills<\/a><\/span>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bedsider.org\/methods\/the_patch\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">patches<\/span><\/a>, and <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bedsider.org\/methods\/the_ring\">rings<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bedsider.org\/methods\/condom\">Condoms<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li>Natural methods (<span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bedsider.org\/methods\/fertility_awareness\">fertility awareness<\/a><\/span> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bedsider.org\/methods\/withdrawal\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">withdrawal<\/span><\/a>)<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bedsider.org\/methods\/emergency_contraception\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Emergency contraception<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>* Effectiveness comparisons charts available from the CDC in <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/reproductivehealth\/contraception\/unintendedpregnancy\/pdf\/Family-Planning-Methods-2014.pdf\">English<\/a><\/span> or <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/reproductivehealth\/contraception\/unintendedpregnancy\/pdf\/Eficacia-de-los-M%C3%A9todos-de-Planificaci%C3%B3n-Familiar-Afiche.pdf\">Spanish<\/a><\/span> <strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3><strong>Our family planning services are affordable for everyone!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>If you have health coverage, we can bill your insurance provider, and we accept Medicaid. If you are uninsured and not eligible for full Medicaid, we can help you apply for family planning coverage through Plan First (see more about Plan First below).
