Immunizations & Vaccines<\/h3>\n

\"\"The diseases that vaccines prevent can be dangerous, or even deadly. Vaccines reduce the risk of infection by working with the body’s natural defenses to help it safely develop immunity to disease.\u00a0 Routine childhood and adult immunizations are available and given according to CDC ACIP recommendations.\u00a0 For more information about available vaccines, charges, and a current schedule of recommended vaccinations, Immunization<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n

Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Testing and Treatment<\/h3>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), also known as sexually transmitted infections (STIs) is a term used to describe over 20 different types of infections that include chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, HIV, trichomoniasis, hepatitis B and human papillomavirus (HPV). STDs are also known by the term “venereal disease.”\u00a0 The LENOWISCO Health District offers confidential testing and<\/em> treatment for sexually transmitted infections. For more information about testing, treatment and charges, please call your local county health department.<\/p>\n

\n

HIV\/AIDS<\/h3>\n

HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. It is the virus that can lead to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, or AIDS. Unlike some other viruses, the human body cannot get rid of HIV. That means that once you have HIV, you have it for life.\u00a0 Confidential testing and counseling are offered along with case management and assistance with paying for medical care and medications through the Ryan White <\/strong>program for those diagnosed with HIV. \u00a0Special Programs<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

PrEP Program<\/strong><\/h3>\n

This program is designed to provide pre-exposure prophylaxis (medication) and education to clients who are at substantial risk for HIV infection. To be eligible for PrEP, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; a Virginia resident; and willing to participate in adherence and follow-up interventions. For more information, contact your local county health department.<\/p>\n

TB<\/h3>\n

Tuberculosis (TB) is caused by bacteria which usually attack the lungs, but it can attack any part of the body such as the kidney, spine, and brain. Not everyone infected with TB bacteria becomes sick. If not treated properly, TB disease can be fatal.\u00a0 Tuberculosis risk assessment screening and PPD placement and reading are available at the LENOWISCO Health District upon request for a charge. Services are FREE<\/u><\/strong> for those that have come in contact with a person infected with TB. Medication assistance is available to those who qualify.<\/p>\n

\n

Long Term Care Screenings<\/h3>\n

\"\"For publicly-funded long-term care services, (such as nursing facility, Program of All-Inclusive Care for the Elderly(PACE), and home and community-based waiver services), an individual must be pre-screened and deemed eligible for services. An assessment must be completed before screeners can determine eligibility and service options.\u00a0 We offer preadmission screenings by a registered nurse and social worker. Special Programs<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Pharmacy Access Program<\/h3>\n

\"\"This program is designed to provide assistance for individuals, who are eligible, in applying for FREE<\/u><\/strong> or low-cost<\/em> prescription medications. For more information visit our Pharmacy Access<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n

Are you or someone you know having problems affording the medicines prescribed by your doctor? Many companies that make commonly prescribed medicines have Prescription Assistance Programs, through which qualifying patients (or their doctors) receive medicines at low or no cost. Tele-Medicine & Tele-Education<\/h3>\n
