The process involves testing, assessing and making a diagnosis and providing the results back to the parent\/guardian, child&#8217;s medical team and to other significant entities. As necessary, we will also make recommendations, and\/or referrals to the appropriate professionals who are capable of offering further assistance and services to children in need.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Staff and Services: <\/strong>The clinic offers a multidisciplinary team approach for the evaluation of children and youth. Our team consists of the following: Licensed Clinical Psychologist, Educational Consultant, Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Nurse Practitioner, Licensed Practical Nurse and Clerical Staff.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Address:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>190 Beech Street, Suite 102<br \/>\nGate City, VA 24251<\/p>\n<p>The Clinic Psychologist assesses the intellectual and developmental level of the child, evaluates adaptive functioning and\/or appraises personality, identifying strengths as well as areas of concern.<\/p>\n<p>The Educational Consultant assesses the child&#8217;s developmental level, learning strengths and weaknesses, and serves as a liaison between the clinic and local educational agencies.<\/p>\n<p>The Licensed Clinical Social worker obtains a detailed social history which provides insight into the child&#8217;s developmental problems as they relate to the child&#8217;s position within the family system.<\/p>\n<p>The Family Nurse Practitioner performs a medical examination and makes appropriate referrals for medical and other health-related consultations for diagnostic purposes.<\/p>\n<p>The Licensed Practical Nurse takes measurements, performs hearing, vision, and laboratory screenings. The Nurse obtains a medical history from the parents or guardians, reviews records of past medical history and writes a detailed nursing history.<\/p>\n<p>The Office Services Specialist provides an introduction to the clinic by greeting each patient and his\/her family, explaining services and admitting the patient to the clinic.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Diagnostic Evaluations:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Child Development Clinic performs diagnostic evaluations for the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Attention Deficit\/Hyperactivity Disorder<\/li>\n<li>Autism<\/li>\n<li>Developmental Delays<\/li>\n<li>Intellectual Disability<\/li>\n<li>Behavior\/Emotional Disorders<\/li>\n<li>Learning Problems<\/li>\n<li>Other Disorders or Disabilities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Referrals can be made by schools, physicians, and any other community or professional agencies.
