The LENOWISCO Health District can provide certified copies of vital records to individuals permitted by law to make such a request, daily Monday through Friday from 8:00AM to 4:00PM except for state holidays. A Valid ID is required when obtaining ANY Vital Record. (Click Here to See ID Requirements). The next of kin or immediate family, which includes mother, father, husband, wife, child, brother, sister, with a valid ID, are eligible to request certified copies of the certificates. Newborn babies and children will not have an ID therefore the parent\u2019s ID is required. However, if it has been less than 30 days since the initial filing of death, then you must obtain the death certificate from the city or county in which the death was originally filed.\u00a0 The original death certificate is sent to the Division of Vital Records in Richmond with the copy remaining on file at the health department for a period of 3 years. Certified copies of death certificates may be obtained by persons authorized to receive a copy by completing an application and paying a processing fee of $12.00 per copy.<\/p>\n<p>The Division of Vital Records provides certified birth, death, marriage and divorce certificates. The general information number is 804-662-6200.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h2><strong>Virginia Birth, Marriage and Divorce Certificates<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>You can easily obtain certified copies of birth, marriage and divorce certificates from\u00a0the LENOWISCO Health Department <em>as long as these events occurred in Virginia<\/em>. \u00a0Certified copies of birth certificates are also available by mail, by VITALCHEK system and by walk-in requests to the Division of Vital Records.<\/p>\n<p>All Virginia Vital records can also be obtained from the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/vital-records\/\">Virginia Department of Health, Division of Vital Records<\/a>, 2001 Maywill Street, Suite 101, Richmond, VA 23230.
