Immunization information and vaccines for foreign travel.<\/li>\n<li><strong>HIV\/AIDS<\/strong> &#8211; confidential testing and counseling. Medication assistance available.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sexually Transmitted Disease Testing &amp; Treatment<\/strong> &#8211; Testing and treatment done for anyone, strictly confidential.<\/li>\n<li><strong>TB<\/strong> &#8211; Tuberculin skin test, free to those that have been in contact with an infected person with TB, charge to general public. Medication assistance available.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Screenings <\/strong>&#8211; Preadmission screenings for personal care services or nursing home admissions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>International Travel Consultation<\/strong>&#8211; Consult on needed vaccinations and\/or additional recommendations for international travel.\u00a0 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/content\/uploads\/sites\/88\/2022\/03\/Intl-Trvl-Consult.pdf\">Click Here to download the International Travel Consultation form.<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"#Top\">Back to Top<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><a id=\"Women2\" name=\"Women\"><\/a>Especially for Women<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Every Woman\u2019s Life (EWL) <\/strong>&#8211; breast screening for women over 50 years old and cervical cancer screening services for women over 40 years old.\u00a0 Priority given to low -income, uninsured, and underinsured.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pregnancy Testing<\/strong> &#8211; Pregnancy tests are available upon request.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Women, Infants and Children (WIC) <\/strong>&#8211; Nutritional education and counseling, special food vouchers for low income at -risk mothers who are pregnant or are breastfeeding.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Breastfeeding Peer Counselor &#8211; all pregnant women who received WIC will be offered a breastfeeding nutrition education class and will meet with the breastfeeding peer counselor to answer questions concerning feeding options before delivery.\u00a0 The breastfeeding peer counselor also follows breastfeeding women during the time that they are breastfeeding.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><a href=\"#Top\">Back to Top<\/a><\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3><a id=\"Infants\"><\/a>For Infants and Children<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Immunizations<\/strong> &#8211; State required immunizations for children are available for free.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Well Child Clinic<\/strong> &#8211; Physical and developmental assessment important for infants and children at regular intervals.\u00a0 Health education provided to parents.<\/li>\n<li><strong>School<\/strong><strong> Health &#8211; School<\/strong> entrance and special school examinations.\u00a0 Pubic health nurses serve as consultants to school nurses and are available for health education.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Women, Infants and Children (WIC) &#8211;<\/strong> Nutritional education and counseling, special food\u00a0 vouchers for low income, at -risk children 5 years of age and under.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Family Access Medical Insurance Security Plan (FAMIS) &#8211;<\/strong> Coordinator available to assist families completing applications to provide health insurance for their children.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Baby Care<\/strong> &#8211; Special assistance to access community services for Medicaid eligible infants 2 years and under that are at -risk for poor health.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Dental Services<\/strong> &#8211; Fluoride varnish to prevent and reduce tooth decay is available to children from 6 months to 3 years of age.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Care Connection for Children<\/strong> &#8211; Specialty clinics available upon referral for children needing evaluation and follow -up in orthopedics, hearing impairment, eye imbalance, neurology, cardiology, diabetes, urology, pediatric surgery, hemophilia, and cystic fibrosis.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Car Seat Program<\/strong> &#8211; Free car seats available to families who qualify.\u00a0 Parents attend a short instructional session to learn the correct placement and use of the car seat or booster seat.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Family Access to Medical Insurance Security (FAMIS) &#8211; <\/strong>FAMIS is Virginia&#8217;s health insurance program for children. It makes health care affordable for children of eligible families. This is best achieved by implementing an onsite wastewater and private well programs based on sound scientific, engineering, and public health principles. The <em><strong>Office of Drinking Water<\/strong><\/em> provides Technical Information to all facets of the drinking water community. For information regarding public drinking water information click <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/ODW\">Public Drinking Water<\/a><\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Environmental Epidemiology <\/strong><strong>&#8211; Our mission <\/strong>is to prevent and control human diseases and conditions due to exposure to chemical and biological agents in the environment and transmission from animals to humans.\u00a0 We accomplish this through developing and maintaining surveillance programs for environmental factors such as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/epidemiology\/DEE\/Rabies\">Rabies Control<\/a><\/strong>; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/epidemiology\/DEE\/Vectorborne\/\">Vector Bourne Disease<\/a><\/strong> (i.e. Lyme, West Nile, La Cross, etc); <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/epidemiology\/DEE\/PublicHealthToxicology\/toxic.htm\">Toxic Substance Surveillance<\/a><\/strong>; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/epidemiology\/DEE\/PublicHealthToxicology\/Advisories\/index.htm\">Fish Consumption Advisories<\/a><\/strong>; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/epidemiology\/DEE\/otherzoonosis\/Mold.htm\">Mold<\/a><\/strong>; and others.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Hotel, Campgrounds, Summer Camps, Swimming Pools<\/strong> <strong>and Migrant Labor Camps<\/strong>\u2013 Environmental Health Staff permit and inspect these establishments to assure public health protection.
