Our role is to effectively respond to emergencies impacting public health through preparation, collaboration, education, and rapid intervention. The Emergency Preparedness and Response program works together with state, regional, and local emergency response partners to enhance readiness to respond to bioterrorism, infectious disease outbreaks, weather related events, and other public health emergencies. MRC units engage these volunteers to strengthen public health, improve emergency response capabilities, and build community resiliency. Volunteers prepare for and respond to natural disasters, such as wildfires, hurricanes, tornados, blizzards, and floods, as well as other emergencies affecting public health, such as disease outbreaks.
