It gives families healthy foods, teaches them about good nutrition, and helps them get health care. WIC supports people who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or recently had a baby, as well as infants and children up to age five.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p>The WIC program helps families by checking their health needs and connecting them to other health, welfare, and social service agencies, nutrition education, breastfeeding promotion, support, and access to supplemental nutritious foods. Moms who breastfeed receive the largest food packages, which also include canned tuna and salmon. They can stay in the WIC program longer, too.
