{"id":10,"date":"2017-03-24T19:29:09","date_gmt":"2017-03-24T19:29:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/chesapeakemrc\/?page_id=10"},"modified":"2017-05-04T17:00:37","modified_gmt":"2017-05-04T17:00:37","slug":"what-do-cmrc-volunteers-do","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.vdh.virginia.gov\/chesapeakemrc\/what-do-cmrc-volunteers-do\/","title":{"rendered":"What Do CMRC Volunteers Do?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A major part of the CMRC program involves assisting in public health events and exercises.\u00a0CMRC volunteers serve in a variety of ways including, but not limited to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Educating the public on health topics and emergency preparedness<\/li>\n<li>Providing basic first aid at community events<\/li>\n<li>Supporting outbreak investigation teams<\/li>\n<li>Facilitating CPR and\/or first aid classes<\/li>\n<li>Assessing blood pressures<\/li>\n<li>Providing administrative support for CMRC operations or public health responses<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Marketing and recruiting<\/li>\n<li>Administering immunizations<\/li>\n<li>Providing medical and\/or behavioral health support at city shelters and mass medication dispensing sites<\/li>\n<li>Serving on mass medication and\/or vaccination response teams to support<\/li>\n<li>Providing direct patient care at hospitals or clinics during a large-scale emergency<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>CMRC volunteers serve in a variety of settings such as community events, health fairs, school events, exercises and drills, clinics, and more.
